High Capacity Pilot-Operated Safety Relief Valve

This large pilot-operated safety relief valve is designed to deliver high capacity and simplicity. With simple construction, it consists of a small conventional, fail-safe pilot valve and a high capacity main valve platform. The main valve can be configured with orifice sizes up to 200 square inches. This helps reduce the number of valves required to ensure system overpressure protection. Although designed specifically for high capacity steam applications, it can also be used with compressible fluids exhibiting similar characteristics to saturated steam.

The 13900 Series pilot-operated safety relief valve is designed specifically for high capacity steam applications. This design can also be used effectively with other compressible fluids which exhibit similar characteristics to saturated steam at the same conditions. Some of the typical applications for the 13900 Series include boiler feed pump turbines, flash tanks, steam lines and dearators. Sizes range from 16 inch to 20 inch inlets with corresponding outlet sizes of 18 inches to 24 inches.

The 13900 Series pilot-operated safety relief valve features a significantly smaller size and package compared to an equivalent spring-loaded relief valve designed for the same operating conditions. The pilot valve and main valve designs are simple constructions that include a top-entry main valve design and a minimum number of parts for both the main valve and pilot valve. The pilot valve can also be tested and repaired in the field without disconnecting the main valve inlet and outlet lines.
